1. Basic mechanical skills are required to construct small brackets for mounting sensors, switches, and relays. For this, you will primarily use simple hand tools like pliers, hammers, small vices, files, and possibly an electric hand drill

2. Welding You will need to make racks to hold the batteries depending on the vehicle you choose for your electric vehicle conversion. These racks must be securely fastened to the conversion vehicle's body and strong enough to hold the batteries. The best way to build these racks is to weld them together and then onto the vehicle's chassis, taking care not to let the heat buckle the chassis. Pre-fabricated racks are available for some of the most widely used conversion vehicles, removing this requirement.

3. Automotive mechanics Certain internal combustion engine components will need to be disassembled, removed, rebuilt, and installed throughout the electric vehicle conversion process. In order to complete these tasks on your own, you will need to have a certain level of automotive mechanical skills; failing that, you may need to hire a mechanical workshop for assistance.

These are the fundamental skills needed to begin an electric vehicle conversion project; however, if you don't think you have these skills but still want to take on the project, ask around in your neighborhood to see if there are any other EV enthusiasts who would be willing to assist you.

The heart of the conversion to electric vehicles are batteries.

The EV conversion is truly dependent on the batteries! It is essential to acquire the appropriate batteries for your electric vehicle conversion. This will guarantee that your converted vehicle will serve you for many years to come. In electric vehicle conversions, deep cycle lead acid batteries, which can be further divided into flooded and sealed batteries, are utilized the most for the following reasons:

1. Up to 30% of their capacity can be discharged repeatedly into deep cycle lead acid batteries. Although this will shorten their lifespan, they are able to withstand discharge to deeper levels for brief periods.



2. Flooded Deep Cycle lead acid batteries are less expensive than other types of batteries and will last a long time if you take care of them, don't use more than 30% of their capacity, and properly recharge them after being used.

3. Sealed Deep Cycle lead acid batteries weigh less than flooded batteries, which makes them ideal for conversions of smaller vehicles and possibly some vehicles with higher performance. They can also be placed in positions not possible with flooded lead acid batteries because they do not have to be only upright.

2. The initial cost range of the batteries over the anticipated range can be used in conjunction with the life cycle cost to select a battery.

3. The battery's energy density is the quantity of energy contained in a specific amount of the fuel source. It is a good way to figure out which battery will work best for your conversion because it is measured in watt-hours per kilogram or watt-hours per pound.

4. the quantity of upkeep required.



While maintaining an electric vehicle is not nearly as difficult as maintaining a gas-powered vehicle, you should pay close attention to the battery's condition because well-maintained batteries will last longer and therefore cost less per mile traveled.
