According to a survey of company fleets, UK businesses are reluctant to switch to electric vehicles.

According to a survey, businesses in the UK are more likely to purchase hybrid vehicles than electric ones. The UK's businesses are compared to those of 13 other nations in this brand-new report from Corporate Vehicle Observatory. Over the next three years, the results indicate that company fleets in the UK will adopt electric vehicles at the slowest rate.

Businesses in the UK are concerned about recharging stations and the difficulty of running electric vehicles over longer distances. Additionally, they believe that the initial cost will be prohibitive.

The larger companies in the UK that were surveyed had less than 30% of their plans to invest in electric vehicles, while 61% chose hybrid vehicles.

A total of 3500 fleet decision makers participated across the 14 countries surveyed. The UK, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Portugal, Poland, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Greece, Turkey, Switzerland, Brazil, India, and India were the involved nations.

The British government is pushing for a network of electric cars as part of their effort to cut down on emissions and boost the motor manufacturing industry in the UK. The government is developing regional electric car networks in London, Milton Keynes, and the North East in addition to providing a £5,000 subsidy for electric vehicle purchases.

Nissan is one company that has committed to producing electric vehicles. The Nissan Leaf is expected to go on sale in February 2011 for a little less than £30,000. It costs 10,000 more than the Toyota Prius, which is its closest Hybrid rival.

Nevertheless, manufacturers are competing to produce electric vehicles, in part due to EU legislation. This legislation covers things like the limit value curve, which says that heavier cars can have higher emissions than lighter cars in order to keep the fleet average the same. It includes a long-term goal, lower penalties for small excess emissions, phasing in requirements, and eco-innovations.

In this electric car race, in addition to Nissan, Citroen, Mitsubishi, and Peugeot, there is also a Chinese company called Build Your Dream, which was once a battery manufacturer but is now a car manufacturer due to its extremely sophisticated battery knowledge. Every one of them and almost certainly more will fight to make progress in the electric vehicle market.

The transport campaign aims to reinforce that sustainable transportation is about putting fewer cars on the road by encouraging other alternatives like public transportation and cycling. It also hopes to encourage businesses in the UK to switch to electric cars.

Conversion to an electric vehicle: How to do it yourself from your home garage

Is it a good idea to begin a project to convert an electric vehicle from your garage? High gas prices are making life difficult for many car owners. Muscle cars and Sport Utility Vehicles (SUVs) drivers are having a difficult time coping with their high gas costs.

A lot of people are thinking about using an entirely electric vehicle to cut costs. Sadly, manufacturers of electric vehicles (EVs) continue to charge a high price despite a lack of strong demand. A typical EV sedan costs upwards of $40,000! Many people are turning away from using electric cars due to the high cost of ownership.

Many EV enthusiasts are starting their own home-based conversion projects as a less expensive alternative. The conversion to EVs is a straightforward idea. The plan is to substitute an electric motor for the automobile's internal combustion engine as its heart.

Other supporting components, such as the radiator, fuel lines, exhaust pipes, and gas tank, can also be removed now that the engine is gone. A DIY electric car would require 15 to 20 deep cycle batteries to power the electric motor. Deep cycle batteries are ideal for electric vehicles and are typically found on boats.

The DIY EV's electric motor needs to be connected to the car's existing transmission unit in order to move. Through the transmission's gears, torque is transferred to the wheels as the motor spins.

An electric vehicle transformation project is basic for the individuals who grasp the specialized parts of an auto. A DIY electric car conversion project might not be a good idea for you if you have never fixed or maintained a car before. Leaving all of the retrofitting work to an expert mechanic is your best option. You will save a lot of time and stress by doing this.
